Popeye the Sailor Man, a beloved cartoon character known for his spinach-fueled strength, has a rich history dating back to the late 1920s. 

Creation and Early Years (1929-1933):

  • Elzie Crisler Segar, a cartoonist, created Popeye for his comic strip, "Thimble Theatre".
  • Popeye first appeared on January 17, 1929, as a minor character in the strip.
