Description

Please read the description and carefully review the lot images before placing your bid. Shipping is available for this lot. Please message us for a shipping quote.

This lot of two styrofoam mannequin heads from the 1960s Art Deco period were designed for displaying hats. These types of mannequin heads were popular in retail settings and for millinery purposes during that period. They often feature a smooth, stylized design, reflecting the aesthetic trends of the time. Mannequin heads like this were commonly made of styrofoam due to its lightweight nature and ease of shaping, and sometimes other materials like plastic or plaster were used as well. The mannequin heads were used for displaying hats, wigs, scarves, and as decorative art pieces. Some were even hand-painted to add unique details. Additionally, similar heads were used in phrenology, the study of the skull's shape, and as life casts for film production.

Titles and descriptions are believed to be accurate, but are not guaranteed. The photos are part of the description; always refer to them (and your eye) as the default description, as photos may show wear that is not mentioned in the written description. We do our best to describe and photograph the items in each lot to show any wear or defects; however, a perception of a "flaw" can vary from person to person.

We sometimes use Google Lens, an AI tool, to verify the authenticity of certain items by comparing them with other online sources, particularly for vintage items or those without clear markings. While it's usually accurate, occasional errors may occur. Therefore, please conduct thorough research before submitting a bid.

We utilize AI to generate backgrounds for the first photos, but leave the other images in their natural state. The item itself remains unchanged; only the background is altered. You are responsible for carefully reviewing all pictures of the items to ascertain their condition and verify listed measurements, when applicable. Please do not use Two Old Souls, Inc. photos, logos or other proprietary content on this website without our permission.
